The Parque de Monserrate has won the European Garden Award! It was with great pride that last Friday the Sintra Parks received this award in Germany, presented by the European Garden Heritage Network and Schloss Dyck Foundation, on behalf of a jury representing 10 European countries. The criteria were related to innovative methods, sustainability, quality of restoration and maintenance, as well as community involvement. The park board are very proud, and wish to thank all visitors, who contribute with their ticket purchases to their ongoing ability to maintain and restore. See the official picture gallery here.

Waterfall in Monserrate
Following the spring showers, all the main streams and waterways in the Sintra hills fill up and the result is a wonderful array of waterfalls all throughout the Sintra parks.
There is no better place to observe cascading water than the lovely park and palace of Monserrate. The pride of place is taken by Beckford's waterfall, just as you enter the park grounds.
The rain also ensures that all the lakes and reservoirs are at their full splendor, making this one of the best times of year to visit - hop on a Park E Bike and see just what we mean!
